Transdisciplinary sustainability PhD Candidate Abdul-Latif Alhassan, SSE, was listed as one of 12 finalists in the ENACTUS Canada Student Entrepreneur National Competition, was in the top five for the Mel Woodford Cup, and was named the Navigate Student Entrepreneur of the Year during BDC Small Business Week 2022.

Historian Dr. Rainer Baehre, SASS, is a collaborator on a number of projects, including:

Dr. Benjamin Barootes, SASS, co-organised Pfaff at 50: New Devotions and Religious Change in Later Medieval England, a two-day conference held at the University of Nottingham on July 1 & 2, 2022. Dr Barootes and his colleague Dr. Rob Lutton (History, U Nottingham), welcomed 18 speakers representing 20 institutions, nine countries, and three continents. The conference, which was supported by the Society for the celebrated the significance of R.W. Pfaff's New Liturgical Feasts in Later Medieval England (OUP, 1970), and Professor Pfaff's son, Rev. David Pfaff, joined the participants to offer reflections on his father's life and work. The conference was supported by the University of Nottingham and the Society for the Study of Medieval Languages and Literature; it hosted the Society's annual Medium Aevum lecture, which was delivered by Dr. Ryan Perry (U Kent).

Dr. Leanna Butters, SSE, received a SSHRC Canada Graduate Scholarship (CGS) Doctoral award.

Geoff Rayner-Canham and Marelene Rayner-Canham, SSE, have been continuing their research into forgotten women chemists. Their research has taken them down many "rabbit holes" including a book on the women scientists and doctors at the women-only long-deceased London School of Medicine for Women [[M. Rayner-Canham and G. Rayner-Canham, Pioneers of the London School of Medicine for Women (1874-1947): Their Contributions and Interwoven Lives, Springer, Fall 2022]. They were also invited to give a lecture at the Royal Society of Chemistry on women chemists' 40-year fight for admission to the Chemical Society [M. Rayner-Canham and G. Rayner-Canham, "'Let us in!' - the opposition to the admission of women to the professional societies," Royal Society of Chemistry, London, England, October 2022]. Finally, as part of their current research into the men chemists who were so supportive of their women colleagues, they had the following research paper published: M. Rayner-Canham and G. Rayner-Canham, "Sir William Ramsay: Pioneering Advocate for Women Chemists," Bulletin for the History of Chemistry, 47(3), 296-301 (2022).

B.Sc. computational mathematics graduates Alaina Pardy and Abigail Rowsell won second prize in the Student Poster Session at the 2022 Canadian Mathematical Society Summer Meeting, for their poster Analyzing Distance-Regular Graphs Arising From Primitive Groups, based on their NSERC USRA projects. This was a remarkable achievement given that the session was primarily aimed at graduate students.

PhD Candidate Albert A. Sey, SSE, participated and won $15,000 CAD in the Lab2Market Validate (Lab2Market) Atlantic Cohort in Winter of 2023 which was hosted by Dalhousie University. The program gives student/researchers the opportunity to critically test and evaluate their idea in the entrepreneurial landscape. The program takes participants through the process of unlocking the business potential of a research idea - from meeting customers, building a network, and most importantly, developing entrepreneurial grit. His research "Canola produced under boreal conditions is an enhanced source of plant-based omega-3 fatty acids and functional lipids to improve human health" and looking at developing functional foods with Newfoundland canola oil.
